The Malecón Camino Real project is an urban revitalization strategy in the Magdalena Medio region, with the city of Honda as a case study. Honda is located in the center of the country, in the northern part of the Tolima department, bordering the departments of Caldas and Cundinamarca. It is traversed by the Guali and Magdalena rivers, and the area where the city is situated is also known as the Magdalena River Valley or the Magdalena Medio Valley.
