Tourist center located 115 kilometers from Bogotá and 14 kilometers from Tunja. There you can find “The Altar to the Fatherland,” the place where on August 7, 1819, the decisive battle of the liberating struggle, led by General Simón Bolívar, took place, marking the end of the war for the independence of Colombian territory from the Spanish crown. Various sculptures representing the nation’s history and its protagonists can be found there, as well as the cyclorama, featuring a gigantic mural depicting the entire liberating route.
