Barichara is a Colombian municipality located in the department of Santander. It is part of the province of Guanentá. The population is recognized for its constructions from the end of the 18th century; the old sector of the population was declared cultural heritage of the country by decree 1654 of 1978.4 This municipality is popularly known for being “the most beautiful town in Colombia”, for which it has been awarded the title of National Monument.5 It is part of of the Network of heritage towns of Colombia.
