The Monument to the Swamp of Vargas Lancers, also known as the Lancers Monument, is a large sculptural complex created by Colombian artist Rodrigo Arenas Betancourt and engineer Guillermo González Zuleta in the department of Boyacá (Colombia), serving as a memorial to the Battle of Vargas Swamp. It stands as Colombia’s largest monument. This monument depicts the assault of the 14 lancers commanded by Colonel Juan José Rondón. It reaches a height of 33 meters and was unveiled on the 150th anniversary of Colombia’s Declaration of Independence in 1970.
