The Medellín River has been one of the main sources of development in the city. Not surprisingly, the first line of the subway was built following that flow that crosses the entire metropolitan area and creating a harmonic relationship between the region and its tributary. This is just an example of a territorial planning model that has been consolidated for 60 years and that allows to coordinate the planning and integrated growth of the territory respecting the river. , The Parques del Río Medellín project was born just in that way. It is a park of 71,800 square meters of public space that integrate the city with its river to generate equity, competitiveness and sustainability. Of the total of this wide urban infrastructure, 38,052 square meters correspond to green areas and there were sown 280 trees that provide citizens with a natural environment to strengthen Medellín as Ecociodad and become an important refuge for various species of flora and fauna.
