Directed by Pierre Morel ("Taken") and written by Jacob Lentz, "Freelance" is produced by Endurance Media in association with Sentient Entertainment and distributed by Relativity Media and AGC Studios. The film was shot on location in Colombia with audiovisual services by WideAngle Films and is a beneficiary of the Certificates of Audiovisual Investment in Colombia - CINA of the National Government and administered by the Film Commission of Proimágenes Colombia.
'Freelance' tells the story of Mason Pettits (John Cena), a former special forces agent, who is trapped in a dead-end desk job. He reluctantly accepts an assignment to provide private security for Claire (Alison Brie), a journalist set to interview dictator Venegas (Juan Pablo Raba), when a military coup hits leaving the unlikely trio to survive and escape the jungle.
About CINA
The project obtained the CINA incentive provided by Law 1556 of 2012, granted by the Colombian government and administered by Proimágenes Colombia. The CINA are certificates with a value equivalent to 35% of the expenses of foreign audiovisual productions in audiovisual services and logistical services hired with Colombian natural or legal persons. The CINA are transferable to Colombian income tax filers and works as an income tax discount.
So far, the CINA have benefited 99 foreign projects, which have a projected investment of COP 2.17 billion / USD 511 million in the country.
