It is an architectural jewel of the colonial era. It owes its name, according to popular tradition, to the fact that it was built to receive Viceroy José Manuel de Ezpeleta.
The Pedro Morales Pino Music Conservatory since 1954, and the “Luis Alfonso Delgado” History Center, which contains the Historical Archive of Cartago, with 400-year-old documents, currently function in that building.
