The House of the Second Botanical Expedition, a colonial building dating back to the 18th century, has been a space dedicated to honoring the Botanical Expedition initiated by José Celestino Mutis in 1783 since 1983. In its courtyard, you can admire some of the species identified by the Spanish scientist (born in Cádiz), with the noteworthy presence of the ficus tree or ‘caucho cartagenero.’ The House of the Second Botanical Expedition preserves plant species identified by Mutis.
