Piedra Gorda was called that when the municipality was settled, the first inhabitants took it as a meeting point or reference due to its enormous size, since it measures 23 meters wide, 20 meters long, 7 meters high and on the surface it has about 115 carved figures and petroglyphs, through which, in word of mouth, myths about hidden treasures, guacas and spirits circulate. In the upper part of the rock you can see concentric circles, zigzag lines, animal-like figures (zoomorphic), like snakes or close to lizards. There are very natural representations and other abstract, more stylized ones.
