For years, Plaza de La 28 has been an ideal meeting point for shopping, thanks to its strategic location between Quinta carrera and Ferrocarril avenue, where people from different social and economic backgrounds come together in one place. Its cultural and historical significance has led to its recognition as one of the 33 Cultural Heritage Sites (BIC) in the city, under Law 1185 of 2008. Since 1998, the Ibagué City Council has designated it as an area of architectural and historical interest. Currently, Plaza de La 28 has 272 stalls and stands out as an important place for both retail and wholesale fish sales in the city.
