The Autonomous University of Bucaramanga (UNAB) is a private Colombian university based in the city of Bucaramanga, subject to inspection and surveillance through Law 1740 of 2014 and Law 30 of 1992 of the Colombian Ministry of Education. It was founded in 1952 by a group of academics, politicians, businessmen and educators interested in improving the educational quality of the Santander Region, operating first as the Instituto Caldas school and then in 1987 receiving recognition as a University from the Ministry of National Education. It is made up of 6 Faculties, which in turn offer 23 professional programs and 8 technological programs at the Undergraduate level. At the Postgraduate level, it has 45 Specialization programs, 11 Medical Specialty programs, 22 Master’s programs and 1 Doctorate. It has 31 research groups recognized by Colciencias. He is ranked number 29 in the U-Sapiens Ranking. It has the High Quality Institutional Accreditation granted by the National Accreditation Council who in 2017 through Resolution 10820 of May 25, 2017 of the Ministry of National Education, prior concept of the National Accreditation Council (CNA) renews the Institutional Accreditation of high quality, for a new period of 6 years.
