In a joint effort organized by ProColombia, in collaboration with the Seoul and South Korea Film Commissions, and the Guild, the Korean Producers Association, a strategic five-day meeting took place in Seoul between the Colombia Film Commission of Proimágenes Colombia and key representatives of the Korean audiovisual sector. This event brought together writers, producers, creators, television and film experts, digital content professionals, and distributors, covering the entire audiovisual production chain.
The participating Korean companies, renowned for their global impact and solid experience in international productions, especially in Asia, expressed significant interest in exploring new locations in Latin America and expanding their presence in the region. During the meetings, the competitive advantages and potential Colombia offers as an attractive destination for audiovisual production were discussed in depth.
The growing impact of Korean content in Colombia was a central point of discussion, identifying a clear opportunity to expand this success if productions were carried out directly in Colombian territory. The Korean producers recognized that Colombia presents a great chance of expanding their projects, mainly due to the generous economic incentives offered by the country.
Unanimously, the Korean audiovisual sector representatives expressed a very positive perception of Colombia's incentive system. They highlighted that it is well-organized and that the country's audiovisual infrastructure is robust and capable of supporting high-quality productions. Despite the geographical distance, the advantages Colombia offers, such as its diverse locations and the value of the incentives, far outweigh this challenge.
ProColombia played a crucial role in this process, providing continuous support and facilitating the necessary connections for these companies to explore firsthand the opportunities Colombia offers. This collaborative effort is a testament to ProColombia's and the Colombia Film Commission's commitment to positioning the country as a leading destination for international audiovisual production.
As this fruitful meeting in Seoul concluded, the imminent need to implement more actions to bridge the gap between the two nations is recognized. The future promises fertile ground for the development of joint projects that will strengthen the impact of Korean productions in Colombia and promote Colombia as a strategic hub for future international productions. This inspiring collaboration opens the door to a cultural and economic exchange that will benefit both countries, fostering a solid and lasting relationship in the audiovisual field.
