After his wife dies in an accident, Kjetil, a Norwegian seafarer, is left alone with Daniel, his six-year-old adopted son from Colombia. Initially it seems that Kjetil manages to cope with his situation as a widower and single father; but in reality he is struggling with feelings of anger, inadequacy and contempt.
Driven by despair, Kjetil decides to travel with Daniel to Colombia to find his biological mother. With the help of Tavo, his guide in Bogotá, and Carolina his sister, they will begin the search, but Kjetil really intends to leave Daniel in Bogota forever, hoping that he will have a more loved and happy life.
Various circumstances will make Kjetil reconsider his relationship with Daniel and make the right decision, even if it is not the easiest one.
