This was the experience of filming Memoria in Colombia

Tiempo de lectura: 3 minutos

Colombia’s atmosphere was a perfect match for the creative pursuit of Apichatpong Weerasethakul and Tilda Swinton. For this reason, the country became the ideal setting to embody this long-standing project: the film Memoria.

In 2019 the film Memoria, directed by the Thai national Apichatpong Weerasethakul, chose Colombia as its filming Memoria location. The project was carried out by an international team with several professionals from the Colombian audiovisual industry.

The film featured a cast led by Tilda Swinton, along with Colombians Elkin Díaz, Juan Pablo Urrego, and French actress Jeanne Balibar.

Memoria received the FFC (Colombian Film Fund) incentive, which consists of a reimbursement of 40% of the expenses in audiovisual services and 20% of the expenses of logistics services provided by Colombian companies or people of Colombian nationality, residing in the country.

The film was shot 100% in the country, between Bogota and Pijao in Quindio, during 2020. This year it took part in the 74th edition of the Cannes Film Festival where it won the Jury Prize.
