"Palpito", Netflix's new Colombian series, premiered on April 20 and in just a few hours ranked first in the platform's Top 10 in Colombia and occupied the top spots in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Chile, Ecuador and Panama. Furthermore, on April 25 it became the most-watched non-English speaking series on Netflix in the global ranking, with more than 68 million hours watched.
Starring Ana Lucía Domínguez, Sebastián Martínez and Michel Brown, "Palpito" is a 14-episode thriller that raises moral questions around love and devotion, through the story of a widower who is immersed in the dangerous world of organ trafficking to avenge his murdered wife and who in his search finds the woman who received her heart.
The series also proposes another question, can old feelings from a heart be transplanted into a new body?
"Pálpito" is produced by CMO Producciones, led by Clara María Ochoa and Ana Piñeres, directed by Camilo Vega and created by Venezuelan writer Leonardo Padrón.
The project was shot entirely in Colombia, thanks to the support of the CINA incentive (Audiovisual Investment Certificate) granted by the national government and administered by Proimágenes Colombia, which provides a tax discount equivalent to 35% of the expenditure on audiovisual services in the country. This benefit has helped the reactivation of the audiovisual industry during the pandemic, creating hundreds of jobs and mobilizing suppliers of other industries such as services, equipment, transportation, hotels and food. It has also contributed to making Colombia an audiovisual powerhouse in Latin America.
